Providence’s Julian Oakley and Sarah Collins To Compete At NCAA Indoor Championships
Oakley will compete in the mile, while Collins will race in the 5,000 meter event.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence track-star seniors Julian Oakley (Tauranga, New Zealand) and Sarah Collins (Basel, Switzerland) will travel to Birmingham, Ala. for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships this week (March 11-12).

First up will be Oakley in the mile semifinal on Friday, March 11 at 6:30 p.m. ET. Oakley is ranked the 10th-fastest in the field after running a 3:58.34 mile at the NYRR Millrose Games on Feb. 20. He is also coming off of a second-place finish in the mile at the BIG EAST Championships. To advance to the final on Saturday (March 12) at 5:00 p.m. ET, Oakley will need to finish among the top four individuals in his heat for an automatic spot or have one of the two next best times.

Collins will compete in the 5,000 meter final at 9:35 p.m. ET on Friday. Following the 2015 cross country season, Collins carried over her form a few weeks later to record 15:45.58 in the 5,000 meters at the BU Season Opener on Dec. 5, which earned her a spot (No. 8) among the top-16 women in the field for Friday. She is coming off of a fourth-place finish in the 5,000 meters at the BIG EAST Championships.

ESPN3 will stream the meet live on March 11 starting at 6:25 p.m. ET and starting at 4:55 p.m. ET on March 12. A replay of the championships will take place on Sunday, March 13 starting at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2, as well as Wednesday, March 23 starting at 10:00 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
