Providence’s Julian Oakley Places Seventh In The Mile At NCAA Indoor Track Championship
Oakley earns his second All-America honor with a seventh-place finish at the championship.

Birmingham, Ala. – Providence track senior Julian Oakley (Tauranga, New Zealand) placed seventh in the mile at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Track Championship today (March 12) in Birmingham, Ala.

The race was tactical from early on with the field going through the halfway mark in 2:11. The race came down to the last lap with Oakley finishing seventh in a time of 4:07.75. The top-9 finishers in the championship race all finished within 1.49 seconds of one another. The winner, Virginia’s Henry Wynne, captured the title in 4:06.63.

After his seventh-place finish, Oakley also earned First Team All-America honors. The honor marks his second All-America accolade and his first First-Team All-America honor.
