Ilarda Finishes 7th at NCAA Track and Field Indoor Championships




COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS –Brianna Ilarda (Perth, Australia) and Millie Paladino (Morgantown, W. Va.) competed for the Providence women’s Track team at the NCAA Indoor Championships in College Station, Texas on March 10.



Ilarda raced in the final of the 5,000 meters. Entering the meet, Ilarda was ranked 12th with a time of 15:55.91. Ilarda cut nine seconds from her previous best to finish seventh overall with a time of 15:46.13. With her seventh place finish, Ilarda earns First Team All-American honors.



Paladino competed in the first preliminary heat on the women’s mile and immediately positioned herself in the middle of the pack after the start. As the race progressed, a quick pace eventually worked the group down to a pack of six. Paladino stayed with this group and surged in the final meters of the race to finish fourth in a time of 4:35.52. The fourth place finish secured an automatic spot in the final, which will take place on March 11 at 5:00 p.m. ET.
