Providence Men’s Track and Field Races at BU Valentine Invitational
The men were highlighted by their performances in the distance races.

BOSTON, MASS. – The Providence College men’s Track and Field team competed at the Boston University Valentine Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 10. The men’s best performances came in the distance events at the Valentine Invitational.
Freshman Jack Carleo (Newburyport, Mass.) started the meet for Providence in the 800 meters. Carleo used a strong final 200 meters to take his heat in a time of 1:52.11. Junior Michael O’Leary (St. James, N.Y.) also ran in the 800 meters, finishing with a time of 1:54.96.
Junior Nick Carleo (Newburyport, Mass.) was the top Friar in the mile. Carleo, racing in the third heat of the mile, took up pace once the pacer dropped out. Carleo would finish with a time of 4:06.49.
Senior Aaron Hanlon (Drogheda, Ireland) competed in the 3,000 meters. Hanlon inserted himself towards the front of the pack for the majority of the race. Hanlon would end up finishing sixth in his heat with a time of 8:26.89.
Other Notable Performances:
-Former Friar Julian Oakley ’16 ran a time of 3:55.10 to finish second overall in the mile.
-Junior Austin Scola (Medfield, Mass.) ran a personal best time of 8:28.23 in the 3,000 meters. Freshman Angus White (New Plymouth, New Zealand), running unattached, ran a time of 8:31.40 in the 3,000 meters in the same heat.

Both the men and women’s next race will be at the Brown Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 11.
